ROYAL CITY — The Royal City Knights hosted a tournament in honor of Royal’s Head Coach Carlos Villa who passed away last year. The tournament had 22 teams in attendance, including the Ephrata Tigers, Moses Lake Mavericks and Wahluke Warriors.

MATTAWA — On Thursday night, two subjects had a disagreement resulting in both parties injuring one another with knives. Mario Cortez Perez, 34, was arrested and booked into Grant County Jail while his roommate was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.

Multiple BBCC students earn scholarships in 2025

MOSES LAKE — Big Bend Community College students earned a number of scholarships during 2025, which assisted them as they continued through their careers at Big Bend and as they transferred on to four-year universities.

Mavericks coach finds positives despite loss

MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Mavericks (3-7) fell to the Ridgeline Falcons 65-23 at home Tuesday. Despite the loss, Head Coach Matt Strophy was happy to find the small victories from their game.

Knights girls take three wins in Arizona Tourney

ROYAL CITY — The Royal Knights girls basketball team travelled to Tempe, AZ to compete in a three-game tournament where – following a Tuesday afternoon victory over Bear Creek – the Knights would go 3-0. This now places the knights 8-1 as they head into the next half of the season.

Warley's 22 points and 14 rebounds help No. 7 Gonzaga beat San Diego 99-93

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Jalen Warley had 22 points and 14 rebounds as No. 7 Gonzaga held off a late charge to beat San Diego 99-93 on Tuesday night for its 20th straight win against the Toreros. Gonzaga (14-1, 2-0 WCC) was making its final trip to San Diego as a member of the West Coast Conference. However, the Bulldogs will still make annual trips to face San Diego State after the schools begin play in the new-look Pac-12 starting next season.

Adria Kay (Krause) DeLay was born in Kimball, Neb. Sept. 20, 1933 and passed away Dec. 26, 2025 in Moses Lake, Wash. at the age of 92.
