Huskies girls earn league win over Tigers

OTHELLO — The Othello Huskies (2-6) defeated the Ephrata Tigers (1-8) 57-40 to earn their second win of the season. Head Coach Caleb Tovar said this game was great for building confidence in his players.

Royal hosts Carlos Villa Memorial Tournament

ROYAL CITY — The Royal City Knights hosted a tournament in honor of Royal’s Head Coach Carlos Villa who passed away last year. The tournament had 22 teams in attendance, including the Ephrata Tigers, Moses Lake Mavericks and Wahluke Warriors.

Huskies hold off late comeback by Tigers

OTHELLO — The Othello Huskies (3-6) overcame the Ephrata Tigers (2-7) 61-57 after a late comeback attempt by the Tigers. Huskies Head Coach Juan Garcia was pleased with the composure his players showed Friday.

Seahawks and 49ers face off for NFC's top seed in high-stakes showdown

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The playoffs start a week early for the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. The top two teams in the NFC West will square off Saturday night in a rare regular-season game with such high stakes as the winner will earn the top seed in the NFC playoffs with a first-round bye and home-field advantage before the Super Bowl. “I think in football, out of all sports, home-field advantage is the biggest advantage because I think crowd noise truly affects the game in terms of pass rush and things like that,” 49ers coach Kyle Shahanan said. "But, the main thing is just it’s one less game. I’d love to be home. That’s our goal. If that doesn’t work out, we’re excited to go on the road, too.”

Beniers scores twice in Kraken's 4-1 win over Predators

SEATTLE (AP) — Matty Beniers scored twice during the Seattle Kraken's three-goal first period and Philipp Grubauer stopped 24 shots in a 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night. The win gave the Kraken five victories in their past six games, coming on the heels of a stretch where they lost 10 of 11.

COLUMBIA BASIN — With the holidays behind us, things are slowing down a little in the Basin, but there’s still plenty to do coming up in January. Here are a few possibilities:

Jacks earn close win in Yakima

YAKIMA — In a game where Pierce Bierlink had 52 points, the Quincy Jacks (3-7) earned a tight 64-63 win over the La Center Wildcats at Yakima Dome in the SunDome Shootout. Head Coach Scott Bierlink said it was a great experience for his players.

Knights girls take three wins in Arizona Tourney

ROYAL CITY — The Royal Knights girls basketball team travelled to Tempe, AZ to compete in a three-game tournament where – following a Tuesday afternoon victory over Bear Creek – the Knights would go 3-0. This now places the knights 8-1 as they head into the next half of the season.

Warley's 22 points and 14 rebounds help No. 7 Gonzaga beat San Diego 99-93

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Jalen Warley had 22 points and 14 rebounds as No. 7 Gonzaga held off a late charge to beat San Diego 99-93 on Tuesday night for its 20th straight win against the Toreros. Gonzaga (14-1, 2-0 WCC) was making its final trip to San Diego as a member of the West Coast Conference. However, the Bulldogs will still make annual trips to face San Diego State after the schools begin play in the new-look Pac-12 starting next season.

Adria Kay (Krause) DeLay

1933 — 2025

Adria Kay (Krause) DeLay was born in Kimball, Neb. Sept. 20, 1933 and passed away Dec. 26, 2025 in Moses Lake, Wash. at the age of 92.

BBCC expands ag opportunities in 2025

MOSES LAKE – 2025 was an important year for Big Bend Community College as they experienced significant growth all around the facility. “What I want the public to know is all of the great work that’s happening at the college,” said BBCC President Sarah Thompson Tweedy during an earlier interview in June.
