James Takayuki Nanto

James T. Nanto, 83, and his wife Debbie died in a tragic house fire on Aug. 15, 2022. Jim was born in Hardin, Montana on March 6, 1939, the second son of Tom Kiyoshi and Frances Nobuko Nanto. He enjoyed life in rural Montana until the eighth grade, when he moved to Moses Lake, Washington, and graduated from Moses Lake High School. While in Moses Lake, Jim joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many positions, including bishop, high councilor and missionary in Brazil. He graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago and, after serving in the Air National Guard, worked there as a civilian until he retired. Jim’s home always was filled with music. He played the violin, taught orchestra, led choirs, gave private lessons and sang duets with Debbie. He left a legacy of music that continues through his descendants...

Vicki Diann Jeske, 76, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Jan. 29, 2025. Vicki was born on March 22, 1948, in Portland, Oregon to Emil and Eva Kociemba. She was raised with her sister Marci in Boring, Oregon and graduated from Sandy High School in 1966. She married right out of high school and started her family with the birth of Kenneth in 1970. These early years included lots of time spent at bowling alleys across Washington and Oregon. She continued bowling and raising kids with the birth of Christopher, Nikki, and finally, Michelle. Her bowling endeavors spanned across four decades.

MOSES LAKE – The Catch a Special Thrill for Kids foundation is a nonprofit public charity that helps children who have special needs and disadvantages enjoy a day of fishing. The organization has been around since 1991 and has since expanded to 26 states, including Washington. “I think these kids deserve to be celebrated and included,” said Melissa McCalmant, CAST’s Western Operations Manager and NW/Rocky Mtn. West Regional Manager. “Just spending a day with them and watching the excitement on their face, it’s just life-changing.”
