Rose Antonine Polito

Rose Antonine Polito is now with our Lord. Rose was born Jan. 29, 1913, in Roseland, Ill., to Serafino "Sam" and Anna (LaForte) Carapezza formerly of Termini Imerese, Sicily, Italy. She passed away peacefully at the Avalon Care Center in Othello on May 4, 2007. Rose lived in many places during her 94 years, sang in many choirs and made many friends. Services will be held in her memory at all of her Catholic Churches. Preceding Rose in death are her brothers, Thomas and Vito, her sisters, Mary, Grace and Margaret and her loving husband Edward T. Polito. Her final resting place will be next to her husband at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Worth, Ill. Taking care of her final arrangements are her nephew, Donald J. (Sheila) Polito, of Florence, Ore. and her great-nephew Paul (Cathy) Polito of Moses Lake. Rose is survived by over 100 nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established to help with Rose's funeral arrangements and to benefit St. Jude's Childrens' Hospital in care of Paul Polito, 5657 Crystal Springs Pl., Moses Lake. Janet Lynn Spatig Hogsett, 52, Moses Lake resident, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2007, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, 1515 South Division, Moses Lake. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Warden. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:15 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake. Janet was the oldest child of LaGrand and Barbara Spatig and loved life. She grew up on a farm and developed a lifelong love of nature. She loved the outdoors and gardening. She loved children, teaching, and science and earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University. While at BYU, she met her beloved husband Richard, to whom she was married for nearly 30 years. Her family meant everything to her and her children are truly her pride and joy. She volunteered her time for various civic and church organizations, but her favorite were those that involved teaching youth. Her smile and cheerful personality will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Christen, son Michael, daughter-in-law Jennifer, three brothers, two sisters, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Harry Paul Joy, 84, longtime Moses Lake resident, moved home Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at Kayser's Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Mildred Machell Nazworthy Bryant, "Missy," a loved and adored wife, mother, grandma, sister, friend and a mom to many, passed away in her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on Aug. 22, 2007, in Moses Lake. Missy was bom in Seattle, and lived most of her life in the Everett and Marysville area. She retired with her lifetime partner, Charles Bryant, in Moses Lake, with three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Husband Charles Bryant, four children, Joannie Alice Nazworthy, Brenda Sue Madison, James Ray Nazworthy and Tonya Latrice Bryant, 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and eight siblings survived Missy. She also was a mom and grandma to KaDesha Nazworthy, Keelyn Bryant, Adele Nazworthy, Tara Nazworthy and newly acquired great-grandson Tarance Nazworthy. Missy was also a great friend and a wonderful mother figure to many. She will be deeply missed, although she will always be in our hearts and looking over us. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at Benson's Funeral Home, 104 W 5th Avenue, Moses Lake, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. To honor her life, graveside funeral services will be held on Aug. 29, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Moses Lake Cemetery, 14403 Rd. 2 N.E. A reception will follow the service at 8527 Hillcrest Drive N.E., Moses Lake.

Linda “Sue” Laursen, 69, of Othello, Washington, passed away January 28, 2017. She was born in Stanley, North Dakota on November 23, 1947 to Paul Dilley and Linda Ellefson. She was married to Jack Laursen on October 14, 1967 in Warden, Washington. They had two children, Tammy and Jack. They later divorced. Linda was a devoted home maker and full-time caregiver for her son Jack. She had a passion for horses, traveling and site seeing. She also had a generous heart and helped answer the need of anyone who called on her. There is no words for how much she loved her friends and her family. She will truly be missed by all who loved her. She was survived by her daughter, Tammy Laursen (Tiffany and Manny Martinez) of Othello, Washington, a sister, Marco (James) Kultgen of Shelby, Montana, and a brother, Clay (Linda) Dilley of Othello, Washington, niece, Channin Hedrick and Sons, James and Timothy (Hadley), nephew James (Patricia) Kultgen and their son Mason. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jack Laursen II and a brother, Brian Dilley. JoAnna, 94, passed away peacefully on Oct. 27, 2025, in Moses Lake, Washington. She was born on April 29, 1931, in Nampa, Idaho to Earl and Elda Arzt, though everyone remembers her loving stepfather Orval Lyle as her dad. She married Clinton (Bud) Thompson on Nov. 12, 1949, in Colville, Washington. They moved to Odessa, Washington in 1953 and became part-owners of Empire Electric with Bud as an electrician and JoAnna the bookkeeper. She also kept busy being a homemaker, florist, caterer and decorator extraordinaire. JoAnna was a member of the Heritage Church and their women’s group, helping with countless church dinners, receptions and funerals.

She moved to Thompson Falls, Montana where she worked as a teletype operator for the railroad. In 1945 she married John Baker and gave birth to two daughters. In 1958 the family moved to Othello where she was involved in many activities related to the community and her church.
