EAST WENATCHEE — Four people were killed when a car hit a bus head-on about 11 miles south of East Wenatchee early Sunday afternoon.
Safer Internet Day promotes education around children using tech
MOSES LAKE – Today is Safer Internet Day, the global observance is a time to bring attention to internet crimes against children and what can be done to reduce the risk of a child becoming a victim online. “Be a part of your child's life and make sure that you talk with them about the dangers that lurk on the internet,” Grant County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman said. “Have a discussion with your children about the dangers of the internet. Explain to them that there are good things and explain to those there are bad people out there looking to cause harm.”
Moore Brewing to go full funny Friday
MOSES LAKE — A good laugh can be found in the strangest of places. And like a dog sniffing out a dropped piece of steak, Michael Glatzmaier knows exactly where to look. “Right before the show, people get to write suggestions on a piece of paper,” said Glatzmaier, who will perform twice Friday at Moore Brewing Company in Moses Lake. “Then throughout the show I pull those slips of paper out of a bucket – I don’t know what’s on them – and then I have to try to create an improvised comedy song on the spot based off those suggestions.”
Cougars take bronze at EWAC league tourney
WARDEN – The postseason in wrestling began for teams across the state last week, including for the Warden Cougars, who finished third as a team at the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference league tournament on Friday. Warden hosted the tournament, scoring 296.5 points as a team. Goldendale won the tournament with 374 points while Granger finished slightly ahead of the Cougars with 304 points.

Moses Lake Air Show to move to different dates for 2025
MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Air Show will move to a new weekend in 2025 and change back to a Friday-Saturday show. Rich Mueller of the air show’s board of directors (and the airport director for the Port of Moses Lake) reviewed the 2024 event and talked about some of the changes coming for 2025. He spoke during the regular port commission meeting Monday morning.
Moses Lake teen found after missing for 15 days
MOSES LAKE – Treyson Brooks, 15, went missing from his group home in Vancouver Jan. 24. He was placed in the facility for advanced care for his special needs and medical condition. Brooks was found in Gresham, Oregon on Feb. 8. He has been returned to his mother, Amy Jackson, in Moses Lake. The Columbia Basin Herald will release an update with more information after more information is collected.

Family Resources Home Care purchases Beneficial In-Home Care
MOSES LAKE — Two home health care agencies that have offices in Moses Lake have merged. Beneficial In-Home Care has been acquired by Family Resource Home Care; the sale was announced Feb. 5. Samantha Hoffman, marketing project manager for Family Resource Home Care, said patients shouldn’t experience any changes in the services from either agency.

Huskies girls squad defeats Prosser 71-12
OTHELLO – The Huskies closed out the regular season with a dominant dual win Thursday night, defeating Prosser 71-12 on their home mat. “We’re starting to see us improve – even today we were seeing moves that we were practicing for weeks, and we’re finally starting to see them come into fruition,” Othello Head Coach Sammy Rocha said. “They’re starting to believe, and I think that’s why we’re getting this energy as far as confidence is concerned.”
MLSD levy decision tomorrow
MOSES LAKE – Voters must cast their votes by 8 p.m. Tuesday evening in the Moses Lake School District’s educational programs and operations levy. Initial results will be available that night, though a final count will take a bit due to Washington’s mail-in voting system. The levy proposal is for four years.
Mavs’ Koziol signs with Dordt University
MOSES LAKE – Baseball season in the Columbia Basin is still about a month away from beginning, but there’s already one Moses Lake baseball player making waves – senior Holden Koziol, who had his signing ceremony Thursday to play baseball at Dordt University. “I’m full of excitement,” Koziol said. “Ready to move on and go to the next thing, go play college ball. A little bit nervous, going to be far from home, but it’s a new adventure. Get to learn about a different part of the country.”
