Othello’s Eldred, Haro sign with Wenatchee Valley
OTHELLO – Othello seniors Don Eldred and Felipe Haro signed their national letters of intent to play college soccer at Wenatchee Valley College Wednesday evening at Othello High School. According to Head Coach Bernie Garza, Eldred and Haro chose where to do the signing, which was located in the OHS Cafeteria.
BASIN SOCCER ROUNDUP: Three teams clinch state bids
COLUMBIA BASIN – Three Basin squads have qualified for their respective boys state soccer tournaments, as district tournaments wind down to a close.
Next salvo fired in WA Supreme Court in high-cap mag ban case
(The Center Square) – The public could learn within a few months or sooner if the Washington Supreme Court will take up the Gator’s Custom Guns case related to the state's ban on the buying or selling of high-capacity magazines. That’s the assessment of Pete Serrano with The Silent Majority Foundation, representing the Kelso gun retailer. Serrano is also running for state Attorney General.

Grant Co. generating interest as solar farm location
EPHRATA — With solar power touted as an important part of meeting future energy needs, Grant County is getting increasing interest from companies proposing to build solar generating facilities. Grant County Deputy Development Director Jim Anderson-Cook said that currently county officials are working on eight proposed projects. All of them are between Royal City and Coulee City, most in the Quincy-Ephrata area. “We are getting a lot of attention,” Anderson-Cook said. “The Columbia Plateau in general is getting a lot of attention.”

Ephrata Sports Complex building burns, likely arson
EPHRATA – The concessions building at the Ephrata Sports Complex located behind the Ephrata Fire Department on A Street SE is a total loss after a Tuesday evening fire that started in a port-a-potty located next to the building. Authorities say the cause is likely arson.

LIND — Adams County Sheriff Dale Wagner, Undersheriff Adolfo Coronado and new Jail Commander Kelly Watkins came down to Lind Community Church Tuesday evening to give an update on the department and allow the community to ask questions.
Wahluke advances to district final, state with win over Toppenish
MATTAWA – It took a penalty shootout to determine the winner of Tuesday’s South Central Athletic Conference district tournament semifinal, where Wahluke outscored Toppenish 4-2 in penalty kicks to defeat the Wildcats 3-2. Wahluke surrendered two second-half goals that sent the match into overtime.
