Raymond Lee Burkett, 61, Othello, Washington passed away February 12, 2010 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 2, 1948 in Porter, Oklahoma to Randolph and Elsie (Buster) Burkett. His family immediately moved to California to work in the crops that were ready for harvest. The family moved a lot so he wasn't able to finish his secondary education. Later in life he had a strong desire to finish his education. He attended Big Bend Community College, Moses Lake, Washington to successfully earn his G.E.D. Raymond and Janet were married November 18, 1967 in Sayre, Oklahoma. They first met in a cotton field in California when Janet was fourteen and Raymond was sixteen. Three years passed before they tied the knot. Born to this union were two daughters Cynthia and Sandy. Raymond and Janet had 42 wonderful years together. A few years after their marriage they traveled to Othello to work picking cherries and later apples. When they first arrived they camped and later moved into town. In 1973 Raymond began working for Kent Farms, then McKay farms and later for Darrell Dixson. He eventually begin working for Land of Lakes and after 25 years he retired. Raymond took a job with Adams County Consolidated Waste for a few years after retiring from Land of Lakes. During his growing up years Raymond loved to climb trees. Later some of his main interests were hunting, fishing, skeet shooting and playing on the Land of Lakes softball team. He especially enjoyed flowers, roses and zinnias were his favorite. He loved watching the Hummingbirds when they gathered by their porch. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, brother LeRoy and sister Barbara.

Vernon Leroy Little

It is with great sadness that the family of Vernon Leroy Little announces his passing. Vernon passed away suddenly on the evening of Sept. 2, 2022, at his home. He was 77 years old. Vernon was born Nov. 1, 1944, in Brush, Colorado to Everett Leroy Little and Mary Jane (Massengale) Little. The family moved to Moses Lake, Washington from Kennewick, Washington in 1958. Vern attended Frontier and graduated from the Moses Lake High School in 1963. He attended Big Bend Community College and went to work at Basic American Foods where he worked for over 28 years before becoming a bus driver and later a bus mechanic for the Moses Lake School District, after which he retired. He was an avid fan of football, hunting, fishing, camping and racing. In his younger years he raced at the Ephrata Speedway in Car No. 44. He passed his love of racing onto his oldest nephew who continued his legacy in Car No. 44 and enjoyed being part of his nephew's pit crew.

Brent E. Blake, 72, a longtime Soap Lake resident passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Moses Lake Stake Center, 1515 S. Division. Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Park in Soap Lake. The family will greet friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m., Monday, September 30th at the church. Laura Lea (Lewis) O'Brien

Laura Lea (Lewis) O’Brien was born November 8, 1970, to Karen (Toedter) and Allen Lewis in Spokane, Washington. The family lived on a farm in Worley, Idaho where she attended school through the fifth grade. In 1981 they moved to the family farm in Rockford, Washington. She was active in cheerleading and a member of the band, and served a one-year reign as Southeast Spokane County Fair Queen. She graduated from Freeman High School in 1988. She continued her education at Washington State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy (cum laude), graduating in 1993. During her time at WSU, Laura Lea was an active member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, and served as chapter president. Laura Lea met Shawn O’Brien the first semester of their freshman year during Chemistry 105, where they were lab partners. They dated throughout college and were married May 29, 1993, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairfield, Washington, the same church where she was baptized and confirmed. After graduation, Shawn and Laura Lea began their careers in Moses Lake, Washington, and started a family.
