Boulder, ready to be your rock

OTHELLO – Don't take life for granite, it’s full of hidden gems, such a Boulder, an Australian cattle dog and blue heeler mix. Though these puns are not rock solid, the love he feels for special people in his life is. He is looking for a special person to give him a rocking life. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. His adoption fee is $375 at Adams County Pet Rescue. If you want to adopt this rock star, visit AdamsCountyPetRescue.com and fill out his application. If you can’t adopt right now but you would like to help a local shelter, visit the website and click “donate.”

Building a beautiful stone garden is inexpensive, and saves water as well

MOSES LAKE — In the Basin, rock gardens are looking like a better idea all the time to some people. Not only do they save money on watering, but they’re not all that expensive to create. Just ask Teresa Fields of Moses Lake. “I just put a little ad out and say I need rock, and people say ‘I have rock,’” Fields said. The majority of her rocks came from a farmer who had it lying around, sorted by size. Fields and her husband just took a trailer to the farmer’s land, loaded it up and hauled it all home.

Roosters looking for ravishing home

SOAP LAKE – The Rock Bottom Rocker Pet Pantry has several breeds of rooster available for adoption. Last year, Rock Bottom Rocker Pet Pantry President Shawna Kluge purchased two dozen chicks from various feed stores, and she got more roosters than hens. Kluge got the chicks in hopes of having fresh eggs, so the roosters are not much help to that effort. There are several breeds available including Buff Orrington roosters, Rhode Island red roosters, Well Summer Roosters and Barred Rock roosters. Kluge said the best way to contact her about the roosters is by texting her phone at 509-237-5722. If flying friends are not what you are looking for, the shelter also has several dogs and cats available for adoption. Visit RockBottomRocker.org to learn more about the other animals. If you can’t adopt any friends right now, but would like to help a local shelter, visit the website and click “donate.”
