RICHLAND – The Moses Lake Police Department has announced the arrest of a 14-year-old male from Mattawa in connection with the Friday drive-by shooting after the suspect went to Kadlec Hospital in Richland to obtain treatment for an accidental gunshot wound sustained in the attack.

The suspect has been booked into juvenile detention and charged with Murder in the First Degree, according to MLPD Cpt. Jeff Sursely.

In addition to the boy who was killed in the incident, four others were struck in the attack and were last reported in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. They include two female victims aged 26 and 17 and two male victims, both minors, at 17 and 13 years of age. All of the victims were found in a vehicle in the 500 block of Loop Drive in Moses Lake.

When asked, Sursely said he was unaware of any connection between the shooting in Moses Lake and multiple other incidents in the Mattawa area over the last few months.

The investigation remains open and anyone with information about the shooting may contact the Moses Lake Police Department and reference case number 25ML03882.
