iNET works at identifying, mitigating narcotics in the Basin

Photos of a variety of items seized during one iNET operation. In the pile of evidence are a semiautomatic rifle, thousands of dollars in cash, suspected marijuana gummies, LSD tabs, methamphetamine and other controlled substances that had not yet been identified when the photo was taken.

Methamphetamine is one of the more popular narcotics being sold on the street in and around Grant and Adams counties, exceeded in commonality only by fentanyl. The substance is highly addictive and an overdose can be lethal.

Fentanyl, the blue pills in the baggies on the bottom-left of this photo, is one of the most deadly narcotics circulating in the Columbia Basin. Unlike fentanyl pills and patches issued by a physician, these pills don’t have a specifically measured dosage and one pill may have very little effect on the person who smokes or ingests it, while another pill may have enough of the synthetic opioid to kill a large adult. Firearms, cocaine and other evidence were also collected in the bust associated with this evidence photo.

A bust often has a variety of controlled substances including fentanyl, heroin, LSD and other narcotics that can be deadly or place users in danger because they are incapacitated. The sale of illegal narcotics also adds to the violence perpetrated by the cartels and gangs that sell them.
