Ketterer sworn in as MLIRD board member

EPHRATA — The Grant County Commission was joined by guests during their Tuesday meeting as Joe Ketterer was sworn in as a member of the Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District by Judge Brian Gwinn.

“As property owners within the MLIRD, my wife Brittney and I started researching the history, current status, and potential within the MLIRD when we first came to Moses Lake. When the opportunity presented itself for us to take a more active role to support our area’s agricultural and industrial growth, preserve our greatest resource, and educate the community on the efforts within the MLIRD, I was honored to volunteer,” Ketterer said in a written statement.

The MLIRD is a special service district charged with maintaining the health of the body of water known as Moses Lake for area residents. The district is tasked with ensuring water quality is improved and maintained; silt levels are managed and invasive species are dealth with, especially weeds.

“I look forward to continue learning more about how MLIRD can support our community, work with other subject matter experts, and most importantly preserve our region’s largest body of water for generations to come,” Ketterer said.
