MOSES LAKE — Grant County Animal Outreach will be putting on pet adoption events at multiple Moses Lake locations in the next few weeks.

GCAO will be at North 40 Outfitters on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow area residents to meet some of the pets they have available for adoption.

Later this month, Oct. 28, GCAO will be out in public again to let the community meet and greet with some of the pets in their care. The second event will be held at The Home Centers located at 515 W. Broadway Ave. in Moses Lake.

“Both North 40 and The Home Centers will have corn stalks, bales of hay and pumpkins for photo opportunities with the kids or fur babies,” said Kar Vanerstrom, GCAO vice president.

GCAO Board President said she is grateful for the two local businesses’ willingness to hold adoption events at their facilities. The board and staff at GCAO see a lot of sad stories come in as animals get into the shelter, so the adoption events and support from the community, in whatever way is available, are a blessing.

“What I want to say is how much I appreciate (their help),” Tweedy said. “And that it goes a long way, with the people who are doing the work day in and day out.”

Tweedy said she understands that not everyone can be in the animal care trenches on a regular basis, but whatever help they can provide is encouraging to those who are and is welcome. That includes students with Moses Lake High School who will be hosting an event on Halloween to support GCAO, she said. The willingness of businesses, area residents and students are all small steps that contribute to making a big difference.

Both events will offer family-friendly activities.
