The Quincy Police Department announced Tuesday the body of a Hispanic man was found outside in the 300 block of H Street Southwest late in the afternoon under suspicious circumstances.

“We’re probably leaning towards an exposure (to the elements cause of death),” said QPD Capt. Ryan Green. “But there was nothing that was obvious, as far as the cause of death, but definitely the extreme weather probably played a part in it.”

Green said the man was identified, but information wasn’t being made public until the Grant County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy, which was scheduled for Friday. Once information is gathered from the autopsy, police will decide further steps, such as whether to investigate the death as a homicide.

In the meantime, he said, anyone who has information regarding this case may contact QPD Detective Jazzlynn Silva at 509-787-2222.

With winter weather continuing, anyone facing shelterlessness is encouraged to seek shelter during extreme cold. For more information on cold weather resources, visit https://bit.ly/coldbasin.
