The Fishin' Magician: Jameson Lake's second opening
One of the favorite fishing openers we have over here is the second opening of Jameson Lake. This 500-acre lake has been a mecca for anglers for decade. Huge crowds come here for the spring opener and many families I talk to are into their fourth generation of their annual opening day trip to Jameson. The second opener, which is on Oct. 1, is nothing like the spring opener.

As we move further into spring there are a whole bunch of annual events coming up. The first one is the "April Fools" trout opener in the Columbia Basin when nearly 50 lakes open to trout fishing. Most of these lakes are just south of Potholes Reservoir and offer the best spring fishing in our region.
