OTHELLO SCHOOL DISTRICT SMALL WORKS ROSTER R.C.W.39.04.155, Commonly known as the Common Small works Roster Procedure, and R.C.W. 28A.335.190, commonly known as the Public School Bid Law, provide that school districts establish a Small Works Roster of qualified contractors who wish to receive bidding information and be considered for performing work on public works projects estimated to cost less than three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000). In order for contractors to qualify the following requirements must be met: 1. Hold a Washington State Contractor's License. 2. Pay prevailing wage rates in compliance with RCW.39.12. 3. Provide Certificate of Insurance prior to beginning any work. 4. Provide a Performance & Payment Bond in compliance with RCW.39.08 prior to beginning any work over $35,000. 5. Comply with federal, state and local laws regarding non-discrimination and affirmative action. Interested contractors wishing to be placed on the District's Small Works Roster for building, improvement, repair or other public works projects for the 2016 are invited to submit a completed application. Jewel Dean Richards June 11, 1934 - October 16, 2016

Jewel Dean Richards, age 82, of Othello, Washington, passed away October 16, 2016 at the Hospice House in Kennewick, Washington. She was born in Blue Springs, Alabama on June 11, 1934. Jewel graduated from J. B. Pennington High School. She was married to Maurice Dean Richards on December 9, 1955 in Sunnyside, Washington and were later sealed together for eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple in Utah. They had two sons, Michael and Terry, and enjoyed 45 years of marriage until Maurice passed away May 12, 2001. Jewel was a lead at McCain Foods when she retired at the age of 65. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and volunteered at Avalon Care Center. She had a passion for gardening flowers and vegetables. Jewel is survived by her loving sons, Michael and wife Penny Richards, of Othello and Terry and wife Diana Richards of Oracle, Arizona, and sisters, Ann Radach and Sue Brisco. Jewel also leave four grandchildren Amanda, Charles, Cody, and Rowdy, and one great-granddaughter Ava, to cherish her loving memory. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at 11:00 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Seventh Avenue in Othello. Bishop Stevens will be officiating. Louise T. Tax May 25, 1921 - October 17, 2016

Louise T. Tax, 95, of Othello, Wash., passed away Oct. 17, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Flaxville, Mont. on May 25, 1921 to parents August Roos and Leonora Cohen, German immigrant farmers. Louise graduated from Flaxville High School with the class of 1938. She was raised with 12 siblings on the dry land farm in Flaxville. She was married to William Joseph Tax Nov. 28, 1939 in Flaxville. Together they raised nine children. In 1952 they moved to Othello where Bill worked with his brother Fritz in construction and as a mechanic for Mulligan’s Iron Works. William passed away March 3, 1991. Louise worked as a homemaker and taught first-graders Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classes for 17 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church since 1952 and was very involved in her church. Louise was well known for her talents in the kitchen and also enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She is survived by her sons, Ted (Diane) Tax of Bothell, Wash., Larry (Joann) Tax of Poulsbo, Wash., Cliff (Lisa) Tax of Othello, Wash., James (April) Tax of Bothel, Wash., daughters, Donna Roper of Othello, Wash., Mary (Ron) Roduner of Quincy, Wash., Nancy Tax of Quincy, Wash., Connie (Tom) Adams of Federal Way, Wash. and Amy Tax, Palo Alto, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Michael John and all 12 siblings. Memorial contributions are suggested to Sister of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Mt. St. Vincent Convent, New York. Funeral arrangements will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Othello, Wash.
