Joe DeHoog, a beloved man to all who knew him, passed away on December 12, 2025, in Ephrata Washington after a short battle with cancer. He was 86 years old.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks are doing everything they can to wrap up the No. 1 seed in the NFC. The San Francisco 49ers are determined not to let them have it. Even after winning 13 games — including six straight — the Seahawks still need to beat the red hot 49ers in Week 18 to win the NFC West and secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Wildcats’ Fisk departs for Portland State
ELLENSBURG — Central Washington athletics announced that Head Coach Chris Fisk would be departing the Wildcats football program to take the lead role at Portland State University. This change comes after a 10-2 season and a playoff appearance. “I have always said that good things happen to good people, and Coach Fisk is one of those people,” CWU Director of Athletics Dr. Dennis Francois said. “He has embodied everything we want in our Head Football Coach at Central Washington University—high character, integrity, the respect and trust of our entire department, and a tremendous ability to serve as a role model for our student-athletes. His presence within our department will be greatly missed, and I wish him nothing but the best at Portland State.”

WARDEN — The Moses Lake Nazarene Church’s toy swap was scheduled for two hours Sunday afternoon, but it didn’t last nearly that long. “People were lined up from one o’clock on,” said Kaleigh Sullivan, who organized the event.

Mildred “Millie” Alice Cordell, aged 84, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, at her home in East Wenatchee. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and community leader who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Royal gets two wins over the weekend
ROYAL – The Royal Knights girls basketball team played a home game against the Wahluke Warriors on Friday where they added an 85-26 victory to their season. This matchup was one of two for the Knights over the weekend as they get their season going.
Jacks overcome Huskies in overtime
QUINCY — The Quincy Jacks (2-5) defeated the visiting Othello Huskies (1-6) 58-54 in overtime Saturday. Quincy Head Coach Johan Farias said a league win was a great confidence booster for them. “We have a fairly young team and just knowing time and situation management, especially when we're up. That game should have not gone to overtime, but it did, but we pulled it off, so I'm happy,” Farias said.

Beryl Jeane was born in Wenatchee, WA, May 18, 1929, to parents Eunice Averill (Isenhart) Moore and Kenneth Moore of Wenatchee, Wash. where she was raised. She graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1947. Her happiest memories as a child were made at the family cabin on Lake Wenatchee, where she spent many weekends. She admitted to being a tomboy.
Cecil 'Dick' McNeese
1934 – 2025
Cecil R. McNeese, affectionately known as Dick, was born on November 16, 1934. Following his birth, he was placed in an orphanage located in Seattle. When he was just three weeks old, he was adopted by Cecil B. and Florence Norling McNeese. The couple welcomed Dick into their home in Pasco, Wash., where they began their life together as a family.

OLYMPIA — Sue Kane, CEO of the NCW Tech Alliance, has been appointed to the Washington State Board of Education, Position 1, according to an announcement from the SBA. Kane lives in East Wenatchee and runs NCW Tech Alliance with offices throughout North Central Washington, including Moses Lake.
Bierlink makes history in Jacks’ 80-71 win over Huskies
QUINCY — The Quincy Jacks (2-6) defeated the Othello Huskies (2-6) 80-71 to earn their second win of the season. They also celebrated Pierce Bierlink becoming the all-time scoring leader in Quincy basketball history. “It feels amazing. I grew up as a kid in Quincy watching Quincy basketball games. My dad's been a coach here for quite a while. My brother played here, and I just think it's been a really big part of my growth here at Quincy,” Pierce said.

Vikings go 2-1 in three games before break
MOSES LAKE — The Big Bend Community College Vikings finished the last week of competition 2-1 after facing the Clackamas Cougars, the Linn-Benton Road Runners and the Mt Hood Saints on the road.
