MLHS Track team hits new personal bests

MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Mavericks track and field team had great success Thursday afternoon in the dual meet against Eastmont with multiple athletes breaking personal records. “We had some kids doing events that they haven’t done before that showed not just good results, but real promise for the future,” said Mavs head coach Mark Ward.

EPHRATA – The Ephrata Tigers (7-0) boys tennis team took care of business on the road against the Ellensburg Bulldogs (4-4), winning 4-1 and keeping their undefeated season alive. With dominant performances from Josh Mullin’s singles win and a doubles victory from Charles Flynn and Jacob Wolther, this team was a unified front.

BMX ramping up for spring fun in Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE – Now that Spring is here, outdoor activities are ramping up, including BMX leagues. On April 4th and 5th, Moses Lake BMX will hold multiple events for children and beginners. This comes after new changes were made to the organization’s offerings. They are starting two new leagues, one for beginners, at their open house this Saturday.

March 2025 a busy month for Basin law enforcement

Basin teams shine at 49th Ray Cross Invitational

EPHRATA — On a sunny Saturday, local high school track and field teams showcased their talent at the 49th annual Ray Cross Invitational, with performances and personal bests across the board. Ephrata, Quincy, Othello, Moses Lake Christian Academy and Royal all sent strong contingents to compete, but it was the Ephrata athletes who dominated many events.

MLHS bests Sunnyside in Friday doubleheader

MOSES LAKE – The Moses Lake Mavericks triumphed in their doubleheader against Sunnyside Friday afternoon, winning the first game 11-1 and the second 10-0 with a walk off by Noah Hernandez. “We got up early, like seven, nothing, our pitchers continued to throw strikes, our defense did a great job and then we finished it off on a 10-run rule in the first game just like we did in the second one on a walk-off,” said Mavs head coach Donnie Lindgren.

Mavs’ Dietmeyer signs with Embry-Riddle

MOSES LAKE –Moses Lake Senior Jaedynn Dietmeyer signed her letter of intent Friday in the Moses Lake High School gym to continue her track and field career with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. “It’s going to be an amazing school,” said Dietmeyer. “I love the location; the coaches and the team are just amazing people.”

BBCC Job Fair to bring job seekers together with employers April 17

MOSES LAKE — Big Bend Community College will play matchmaker between businesses and the people they’re looking for at the BBCC Job Fair April 17. This is the 32nd year Big Bend has held the fair, said coordinator Michelle Arceo. Last year it attracted about 1,000 job seekers, she said. The fair will include Big Bend students, but anyone who’s interested in starting or furthering a career is invited. There’s no charge to attend.

Wahluke boys and girls tennis fall to Connell

MATTAWA—Wahluke's tennis teams both lost to Connell. The girls went 1-4 on the day, and the boys went 0-3, with a lack of second and third doubles matches. “They have a couple players that have gone to state in the past and we’re still a young team, but we have some older players,” said Wahluke coach Adrian Sandoval. “They’re doing really good so we’re just learning more every day.”
