MOSES LAKE – Since Wednesday, local football teams have returned to the gridiron for their first practices of the 2025 season. The third-round pick from Alabama lost three fumbles and was sacked five times in the Packers' 20-7 victory.

Mariners back Woo's gem with homers by Suárez, Naylor and Polanco in 3-2 win over Athletics

SEATTLE (AP) — Bryan Woo allowed one hit in seven innings and the Seattle Mariners got homers from Eugenio Suárez, Josh Naylor and Jorge Polanco to beat the Athletics 3-2 on Friday night. With the score tied 1-all in the seventh, Athletics reliever Elvis Alvarado (1-1) hung a slider to Naylor. The slugging first baseman ripped it to right field and flipped his bat to celebrate his 100th career home run.

After a distinguished 25-year career as a firefighter-paramedic, Brittain's journey into firefighting began in the mid-1990s with a shift in career aspirations that uniquely shaped his path. Originally pursuing a degree in education at Central Washington University, Brittain's interests were redirected after he began working at Les Schwab, where he observed the benefits enjoyed by firefighters.

Othello Rotary donations to feed children and prepare them for school

OTHELLO — The Othello Rotary Club stepped up Thursday for school supplies and meals for school children, with donations to the Othello Food Bank and Lighthouse Community Center. Club President Don Burks and several fellow Rotarians passed on more than $4,500 to the Othello Food Bank for its Bite 2 Go program.

Salaries for Adams Co. elected officials under discussion

RITZVILLE — Adams County commissioners decided to delay consideration of an ordinance to revise the way salaries for county elected officials are established. Board Chair Mike Garza emphasized the ordinance was still a work in progress after rumors about the proposed changes brought about half a dozen to the commission meeting Tuesday. “It’s not set in stone yet,” Garza said.

OTHELLO – On Monday, the City of Othello announced it needs more volunteer coaches for Othello MLS GO, a local youth soccer group. According to Parks and Recreation Coordinator Valerie Hernandez, this is not an unusual need to have. Prior coaching experience is not required, she said.

Turner, Harper power Phillies to 12-7 rout of Mariners

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Trea Turner had four hits, including his first home run at home this season, Bryce Harper homered twice and the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Seattle Mariners 12-7 on Monday night. Turner hit a three-run homer off Seattle starter Logan Gilbert (3-5) as part of a six-run second inning. Turner also had two singles and a double for his fifth straight multihit game. He finished with five RBIs.
