MOSES LAKE – The Favored Farmhouse coffee shop is expanding its services with plans for a new food truck court and a recurring night market. “We’ve owned the farmhouse for about seven years and originally the plan was to just help propel other small businesses,” said Daphne Martinez, who owns Favored Farmhouse with her husband Derek.

QUINCY CITY COUNCIL POSITION 2: Spence vs. Madera

QUINCY — Incumbent Jeff Spence and challenger Rob Madera are running for Position 2 on the Quincy City Council. Both candidates were provided with identical questions that included a word limit. Madera did not respond after several requests for comment.

ACH Warriors suffer first loss of the season

COULEE CITY – The Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors (1-1) fell short 44-18 at home to Liberty Christian Friday. Head Coach Brandon Walsh said that, despite the loss, it was good to have a game against a high-quality opponent. “It was one of those matchups that you want to have this time of year to see where you're at against a high-quality opponent, and it didn't go our way, but now we know where we need to go to get better. They played hard and competed the whole game,” Walsh said.

Tigers roar past Ellensburg

EPHRATA – The Ephrata Tigers’ football team earned a strong 43-20 home victory over Ellensburg Friday night to improve their record to 2-1. “We started off kind of shaky, we made a few mistakes, but we tied it together, and then we came out and did what we needed to do to win,” said Tigers junior Ty Plaisted.

Wayne Clair Brown, 85, of Royal City, Washington, passed away September 17, 2025. He was born on June 13, 1940, in Victor, Montana, the fourth child of Harold D. Brown and Lila May Steffensen Brown. The family moved to Charlo, Montana, when Wayne was two, and he grew up there alongside his eight siblings.

Eagles fall to Dayton at home

Slow start, multiple injuries lead to 46-16 loss for Soap Lake

SOAP LAKE – The Soap Lake Eagles football team fell 16-46 against Dayton on Friday putting their record at 1-1 for the season. “We came out slow and then once we got it to 30-8 we played them even from then on out,” said the Eagles’ head coach Garrett Devine. “I felt like it was a pretty evenly matched team for us, but they came out really hot and they had a good game plan, and we just didn’t come out hot.”

Mavs win big in double header against Ike

MOSES LAKE – The Moses Lake Mavericks softball team earned two big wins against Eisenhower Thursday afternoon, putting the team 6-0 on the season. “I think our games went really well,” said Mavs player Hayden Morris. “We really played as a team, and I think our freshmen came up big for us today in both games.”

Huskies dominate Cougars in Apple Cup

PULLMAN – On Saturday, the Huskies were victorious 59-24 over the Cougars in the 117th Apple Cup. Huskies Head Coach Jedd Fisch said the team is happy to have the Cup back in Seattle. “I thought they came out ready to play,” Fisch said. “This is a game that we had to win, we had to come out and play our best football.”

Martinez makes MLHS volleyball history

MOSES LAKE – Moses Lake Mavericks volleyball player Kardyn Martinez made school history during Thursday’s game against West Valley, becoming the first athlete in Moses Lake High School history to reach 500 kills on the volleyball court “It’s kind of surreal because I’m a soccer player, personally, so I never thought that I would be in this position right now,” said Martinez. “It’s honestly so cool.”

SEATTLE (AP) — Rookie Tory Horton returned a punt 95 yards for a touchdown — the longest punt return in Seahawks franchise history — and caught one of Sam Darnold's two TD passes in Seattle's 44-13 rout of the winless New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Kenneth Walker III ran for two TDs for the Seahawks (2-1), with the first set up by another big play on special teams. Knights ‘battle’ Wahluke for on-the-road win

MATTAWA – On Thursday, the Royal Knights went into enemy territory and defeated the Wahluke Warriors in a competitive 3-0 game. Knights Head Coach Lisa Lawrence said her team battled to the very end. “It was a battle, and we've got some things to work on and clean up, but the girls had a lot of heart and fought all the way through to the end. I'm really proud of them for just getting it done,” Lawrence said.
