Wilma Eileen Englund (née Hoffman), 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Ellensburg, Washington, on March 13, 2023, in the company of her husband of 36 years, Arlie, and twin sons Jake and David. Wilma was a resident of Grant County for over 50 years prior to moving to Ellensburg in 2013, working as a cosmetologist and homemaker in addition to being a volunteer at Moses Lake elementary schools and a foster mother. She also served as the mayor of Wilson Creek in 1984, and made history in 1972 when she bowled a record-breaking 288 at the Ephrata Bowling Center, the highest of any woman at the facility or in her league to that date. An avid fiber artist and gardener, Wilma donated hundreds of knitted projects locally and internationally while being a devoted wife and mother, and growing her flourishing garden in spite of the Columbia Basin's arid climate. A private ceremony was held by her family.
