For almost three years we have been to every MLIRD meeting, except for one, and we have been a first-hand witness to the 2012 Board dysfunction and the productive turn-around in 2013. In 2012, Ron Covey was the lone voice of reason on the Board in a series of truly chaotic meetings and potentially disastrous decisions. Although verbally denounced, and regularly outvoted by the other Board members, Ron stuck to what he knew was right for the lake, the MLIRD staff and, most importantly, for the entire community. In 2013, Ron played a major role in supporting the new Board as they returned to a more rational, and cost-effective, method of MLIRD operations.
