Warden man killed on SR 170
WARDEN – A Warden man was killed and a Moses Lake man was injured in a traffic incident Sunday morning in Grant County, just west of Warden on State Route 170, according to a statement from the Washington State Patrol.

OLYMPIA – The Office of the Secretary of State has mandated a manual recount for the Commissioner of Public Lands election across all Washington State counties, according to a statement from the Benton County Auditor’s Office. Each county will conduct the recount independently, according to the statement. According to state administrative rules, all counties will certify their recount results on Sept. 3. The Secretary of State's office will then certify the statewide results on Sept. 4.

Fire restrictions expanded to firearm discharge
SPOKANE - The Bureau of Land Management Spokane District has added a prohibition to its existing fire restrictions order regarding the discharge of firearms. Discharging firearms is prohibited on public lands under the care of BLM and the Bureau of Reclamation as of July 29. The only exception to this prohibition is while engaged in lawful hunt pursuant to state, federal or tribal law and regulations, on public lands administered by the BLM and the BOR in the following counties: Benton, Chelan, Douglas, Franklin, Grant and Yakima.
