Scherzer turns back the clock and Blue Jays beat Mariners 8-2 in Game 4 to even ALCS

SEATTLE (AP) — Mad Max had nearly a month to fume, seethe and boil as he waited for his October opportunity. Finally given the ball in the playoffs, he shut down the Seattle Mariners — and his own manager, too. Morris ‘Morry’ Landon

Feb. 18, 1941 — Oct. 12, 2025

Morris J. (Morry) Landon, 84, left his earthly home Oct. 12, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family after a short battle with cancer and dementia. Born Feb. 18, 1941, to Clyde & Patricia (Sheffield) Landon in Wenatchee, Washington, Morry spent his early years in Osborn, Washington while his dad Clyde worked on Grand Coulee Dam. In 1949, the family moved to Moses Lake for Clyde to work on the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project. Coming to Moses Lake at that time was almost like homesteading. The family of five lived in a small RV while Clyde built a home in the Peninsula area – some streets were still only gravel.

QUINCY — Some Quincy students are getting a boost with their educations because of a young man who never got to finish his own. “My son got leukemia when he was 18 years old, a senior in high school,” said Linda Guzman, president of the Mario J. Guzman Foundation. “For five years he went back and forth. He relapsed a couple of times, (had) a bone marrow transplant, but it didn't take and he lost his life Sept. 6, 2012.”
