Soap Lake Salutes Fun Run celebrates veteran contributions
SOAP LAKE — On Saturday, a 2K and 5K fun run was held at Smokiam Park in Soap Lake. The fundraiser event was aimed at raising more awareness around Veterans Day, said event organizer Britton Baker.

MLSD settles with Absher Construction on Vanguard project
MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake School District has reached a conclusive settlement agreement with Absher Construction Company, effectively closing out all remaining contractual obligations related to the construction of Vanguard Academy. This resolution was officially accepted by the MLSD Board of Directors during their regular meeting on November 6, 2025.
Knights earn first round bye in state playoffs
ROYAL CITY – The Royal Knights (10-0) once again showed their dominance on the field on Friday where they earned a 69-0 victory over King’s Way Christian in the 1A District tournament. This victory not only sent the Knights into the state tournament but gave them the number one seed to have a first-round bye.

DeMarcus Lawrence scores 2 defensive TDs and Seahawks dominate Cardinals in 44-22 win
SEATTLE (AP) — Before Sunday, DeMarcus Lawrence had scored two touchdowns in 148 NFL games over 12 seasons. With a couple of huge assists from Tyrice Knight, Lawrence doubled his career total by the end of a dominant first half for the Seattle Seahawks, who beat the Arizona Cardinals 44-22. Lawrence returned two fumbles for touchdowns, and became the sixth player since at least 1991 with two defensive touchdowns in the first half of a game.
Moses Lake library contract extended, but questions remain
MOSES LAKE — The city of Moses Lake will maintain the existing funding level for the Moses Lake Public Library for 2026 and will not ask NCW Libraries for more money next year. City officials will be evaluating the building in 2026, and Mayor Dustin Swartz said city residents will be invited to be part of that process.

Mavs punch ticket to state with district playoff win
MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Mavericks (10-0) defeated the Issaquah Eagles 49-35 at home in the 4A district playoff game to advance to the state tournament. Lineman Theo Kalasountas said it felt good to get a postseason win at home.
Soap Lake Creative District asks for new signage
SOAP LAKE – The Soap Lake Creative District asked the Soap Lake City Council to consider an Washington State Arts Commission grant application and matched fund assistance for new wayfinding signage throughout the district. The council unanimously decided to move forward by creating a memorandum of understanding and looking at matching dollars for the project.

Eagles seniors reflect on season after concluding at home
SOAP LAKE – The Soap Lake Eagles (2-6) finished their season at home against Oroville, where they fell 0-54 by the end of the night. Despite the loss, the Eagles were still proud of the efforts that they put out and are happy with the season they had.

Covenant Homeownership Project showing results
MOSES LAKE — Washington’s Covenant Homeownership Project is beginning to do what it’s designed to. “As of the beginning of last week, 886 people had closed on their homes using this program,” writes Margret Graham, communications director for the Washington State Housing Finance Commission, in an email to the Columbia Basin Herald. Another 92 buyers are waiting to close, she wrote.
