MOSES LAKE – The City of Moses Lake is set to sell off units formerly used at the Open Doors Sleep Center from Oct. 14 to Oct. 17. The sale aims to repurpose the prebuilt gable-style sheds that have remained unused since the center closed on June 30.

Torilynne Marie Hinshaw was called home to Heaven on Sept. 7 at the young age of 18. She suddenly and peacefully passed away at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. Torilynne was born April 17, 2007, to her parents Carey and Heather Hinshaw. She was born in Spokane, but lived her short precious life in Moses Lake. Torilynne also leaves behind her two big brothers Zach and Logan. Both fiercely loved and protected her. In addition, she also leaves behind her Nana and Grandpa and aunts, uncles and cousins. Torilynne was a beautiful girl who stood out everywhere she went, with her long brown hair and big brown eyes.

SOAP LAKE — At around 2 p.m. firefighters were called to a brush fire around milepost 81 on state Route 17 at the south end of Lake Lenore. “Heavy sage brush and dry lands fueled the fire,” Grant County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman said. The fire quickly spread to around 150 acres. As of 5 p.m. crews are still working on containment. There is no threat to the public, Foreman said.

COULEE CITY — On Friday, the Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors (3-1) were victorious 58-20 over the visiting Curlew Cougars. The Warriors dominated with their run game. Head Coach Brandon Walsh said his players were sharp in all phases of the game. “We're happy with how we played,” Walsh said. “It was fun to see the kids starting to take on some of the little things that matter for good teams. SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Kraken defenseman Ryker Evans will be out for six to eight weeks with an upper-body injury, the team announced Wednesday. The 23-year-old Evans is expected to miss the first few weeks of games, including Seattle’s season opener on Oct. 9 against the Anaheim Ducks. In August, the left-shot defenseman agreed to a two-year contract extension which gives him an annual salary of $2.05 million and runs through the 2026-27 season
