MOSES LAKE — The average fuel prices have dropped in Grant and Adams counties and statewide in Washington. However, the national average price saw a slight increase this week.
$5.8M planned in capital projects at Port of Moses Lake
MOSES LAKE — The Port of Moses Lake is projected to generate about $12 million in revenues and spend about $16.07 million in 2026. The preliminary budget was reviewed by commissioners Monday. “We’ve had some economic conditions – we're losing a tenant and a user of our wastewater, so port staff is working to fill those spaces,” said Kim DeTrolio, the port’s director of finance and administration.
MLSD settles with Absher Construction on Vanguard project
MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake School District has reached a conclusive settlement agreement with Absher Construction Company, effectively closing out all remaining contractual obligations related to the construction of Vanguard Academy. This resolution was officially accepted by the MLSD Board of Directors during their regular meeting on November 6, 2025.
Knights earn first round bye in state playoffs
ROYAL CITY – The Royal Knights (10-0) once again showed their dominance on the field on Friday where they earned a 69-0 victory over King’s Way Christian in the 1A District tournament. This victory not only sent the Knights into the state tournament but gave them the number one seed to have a first-round bye.

EPHRATA — The American Legion Art Semro Post and Unit 28 is proud to host the 28th annual Veterans Day Parade in Ephrata Tuesday, Veterans Day, honoring the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces, according to an announcement from Post Auxiliary Secretary Rebecca Pettingill.
Moses Lake library contract extended, but questions remain
MOSES LAKE — The city of Moses Lake will maintain the existing funding level for the Moses Lake Public Library for 2026 and will not ask NCW Libraries for more money next year. City officials will be evaluating the building in 2026, and Mayor Dustin Swartz said city residents will be invited to be part of that process.
CliftonLarsonAllen consolidates in new Moses Lake office
MOSES LAKE — CliftonLarsonAllen has a new home in the Columbia Basin. The accounting firm, which has had offices in Moses Lake, Quincy and Othello, is consolidating those offices into a single location on Yonezawa Boulevard in Moses Lake. The company cut the ribbon on its new building Wednesday in a ceremony with the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Quincy railroad crossing work scheduled for 2026
QUINCY — Roadwork for 2025 isn’t quite finished in Quincy, and plans are underway for projects in 2026. Upgrades to the railroad crossing on Columbia Way are among them, and Quincy Engineer Aerial Belino said that’s the first in a series of upgrades to railway crossings.
Covenant Homeownership Project showing results
MOSES LAKE — Washington’s Covenant Homeownership Project is beginning to do what it’s designed to. “As of the beginning of last week, 886 people had closed on their homes using this program,” writes Margret Graham, communications director for the Washington State Housing Finance Commission, in an email to the Columbia Basin Herald. Another 92 buyers are waiting to close, she wrote.
