As the Seattle Seahawks come out of their bye week, they are 5-2 and tied for second in the NFC West division. With the first half of their season behind them, a lot of questions have been answered.
Jacks eliminated from 2A district tournament
QUINCY — The Quincy Jacks (10-7-1) were defeated 2-1 by the Prosser Mustangs and eliminated from the 2A district tournament on Tuesday. Head Coach Jesse Villalobos said the loss was tough because of the potential he saw in his team.

Following a year of failing health, Robert Arthur Bunday, a longtime resident of Bend, Oregon, passed away at the age of 83 on October 3, 2025. He answered to many names that included Bob, Buzz, Honey, Dad and Gramps.

OLYMPIA – The Washington Fire season has officially come to a close as of Monday, according to Department of Natural Resources Communications Manager Ryan Rodruck.
Port of Moses Lake looking for more water
MOSES LAKE — Getting enough water for future needs at the Port of Moses Lake, where to get it, and how much it might cost is the subject of an ongoing study. Commissioner Stroud Kunkel said the port needs more water, even though it could be an expensive proposition.
Royal, Wahluke compete in SCAC League Championship
WALLA WALLA – The Royal Knights and Wahluke Warriors cross country teams travelled to Walla Walla Point Park on Saturday to compete in the South-Central Athletic Conference League Championships. This meet prepared the teams for the coming District 5 1A Championships to qualify for the state meet.
ACH dominant first quarter leads to home win
COULEE CITY — The Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors (6-1) earned another dominant win at home, defeating Wellpinit 58-16 on Friday. Head Coach Brandon Walsh said his players continue to improve as the season unfolds.
Mavs win 2nd-straight game Saturday
MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Mavericks (9-6) defeated the Prosser Mustangs 3-1 at home Saturday. Head Coach Krystal Trammell said they went into the game remembering to have fun on the court.

Jean Konishi, 90, a longtime Moses Lake, Wash. resident passed away in the comfort of her home on September 17, 2025.

1938-2025
Karen Lynn Barnes, 87, was born in Seattle to Bill and Marion Dettman in 1938 and passed away peacefully in Ephrata, Wash., on Oct. 19.
SNAP benefits uncertain after Nov. 1
MOSES LAKE — Whether or not benefits through the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program will be available to Washington residents after Nov. 1 is still to be determined and is dependent on events in Washington DC. Those events are still unfolding, said Matt Reed, communications director for Fourth District Congressman Dan Newhouse.

A few weeks ago, Wendy Brzezny of Thriving Together NCW contacted me and asked me to attend the organization’s 2025 summit, with the theme, “Thriving Together Toward Tomorrow.” The event was held at the Wenatchee Convention Center, and I’m grateful that I decided to go rather than deflecting it because I was worried about being out of the office. I tend to do that a lot, then wonder why I get deflated and feel burnt out.

YAKIMA – The Moses Lake Mavericks (16-1) are the 4A state champions after defeating the Chiawana Riverhawks 13-3 in five innings. This state title is the Mavericks first in school history.
Huskies fall to Prosser in Districts
OTHELLO – The Othello Huskies soccer team (6-10) fell 1-2 to the Prosser Mustangs Saturday afternoon in the play-in round of the Central Washington Athletic Conference District tournament. Huskies head coach Victor Quiroz said he was proud of how the girls fought this season.
Mavs continue win streak on Senior Night
MOSES LAKE – The Moses Lake Mavericks Football team (8-0) tacked on another victory to their season Friday night when they hosted West Valley and won 72-7. The Mavs sit on top of the Big 9 after completing their final home game of the regular season.
Mavericks advance to state title game
YAKIMA – The Moses Lake Mavericks (16-1) are heading to the 4A state championship after a comeback win over Skyview. The Mavs overcame a 2-6 deficit to win the semifinal game 10-6. The Mavs were able to show off their mental strength by leaning on each other throughout the game.

YAKIMA – The Mavericks slowpitch softball team is off to a hot start in the 4A state tournament after defeating eighth-seed Lake Washington 21-0 in the first round. Head Coach Mike Hofheins said while he liked what he saw, it’s important they remain focused on sustaining their momentum.
