Canadian PM's wife has recovered from coronavirus illness
TORONTO (AP) — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife said Saturday that she has recovered from being ill from COVID-19 disease caused by the new coronavirus.
Esther Marie Kirby
Esther Marie Kirby, 98, of Ephrata, Washington, slipped peacefully into heaven at the Ephrata hospital on Monday, March 13. Esther was fortunate to be able to live on her own until she was admitted to the hospital 24 hours before her passing. Esther was born on April 11, 1924, in Twin Falls, Idaho, the daughter of George Simpson Cope and Ozia Mabel Vaughn. She was the seventh of nine children. She was nicknamed “Babe” and was known by “Babe” by her family and close friends throughout her lifetime. On Oct. 2, 1941, she married Kenneth Kirby, and together they had seven children. Kenneth preceded her in death in 1960 and she later married Lawrence Wilhalm in 1972 and has lived in the Quincy and Ephrata area since that time. Esther was also preceded in death by her daughters Joyce Kirby and Sandra (Bill) Coggins, son Jack Kirby and several grandchildren. Esther is survived by her children Susan (Mark) Fanning, Connie Kirby, Cindy (Eric) Stones and Michael (Jen) Kirby, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doreen Barlow Iverson
Doreen Barlow Iverson, 91, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Doreen was born June 15, 1931, in Tremonton, Utah to Fielding Burton and Ona Barlow. Doreen grew up on a small family chicken farm and in her teenage years she worked with her father at the tire store in Logan, Utah. After high school Doreen worked as a telephone operator at Utah Power and Light Company in Tremonton. Doreen married Lee on Sept. 18, 1950, in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They moved to Royal Slope in 1956 where they cleared the sagebrush, built their home and raised their four children.
Shawn Lynch
It is with great sadness that we announce that on Oct. 14, 2022, Shawn Lynch of Spokane passed away unexpectedly of acute bacterial meningitis. Shawn was born on June 4, 1980, in Moses Lake to Mary and Brian Lynch. Shawn was a 1999 graduate of Othello High School. After graduation Shawn worked various jobs before finding his calling as a chef. His spark for cooking began while working in Desert Aire and he went on to become an accomplished chef. He spent many years in the culinary field, including working in Alaska as a chef on oil rigs. This took him all over the world and he loved meeting and working with people from many different cultures. He also worked in refinery camps in remote places of the state, always sharing pictures of the amazing animals and landscape.
Frank M. Gleason

Frank M. Gleason, 75, was born in Ellensburg, Washington, May 2, 1947, to Earl and Hazel (Blinston) Gleason. After a long battle with IPF (lung disease), he passed away at home on October 9, 2022, surrounded by his family. Frank attended Kittitas High School where he graduated in 1965. He signed up for the draft and enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas from 1966 to 1968. He later moved to Moses Lake in 1977 where he worked for Boeing, Basic American, Busby, Lamb Weston and he did heating and air conditioning on his own time. Most recently he worked for Western Polymer where he retired in 2017, working maintenance...
Barbara Larsen
April 29, 1930 – August 21, 2023
Barbara Larsen, 93, of Wilson Creek, Washington, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 21, 2023. Barbara was born in Nebraska on April 29, 1930. When she was 7, her family moved to Emmett, Idaho. They later moved to the Milton-Freewater, Oregon area. She called this home until she graduated from high school in 1948. Barbara went to business school for bookkeeping and worked for car dealerships in Walla Walla and Spokane, Washington. While working for Riegel Bros. Dodge, she met her future husband, Mick Larsen. They were married on Sept. 6, 1953 and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2003 with a large gathering of family and friends. Barbara actively participated in church and community events including 4-H, Grange, and home Bible studies. Family was always important to Barbara. She is survived by her children Paul Larsen of Wilson Creek, Keith Larsen (Suzanne) of Spangle, Brian Larsen (Elaine) of Redding, California, and Darla Geno (Mark) of Spokane; and grandchildren Rebecca, Janelle, Julie, Ryan, Adrianne, Celeste, Christian, Joey, and Emma as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Niece Bobbie Mandell will fondly remember her for numerous summers spent with the family.

Ruby “Joyce” Love, 88, of Spokane Valley, Washington went into the arms of the Savior she so faithfully worshiped on July 19, 2025. Joyce was born on Oct. 24, 1936, to James and Johnnie Mckee in Wilmot, Arkansas. Joyce met and married Jim Berry in Livermore, California and they enjoyed military life along with two daughters. Later, Joyce settled in Moses Lake, Washington where she married Jim Love and they enjoyed motorcycle rides and the Moses Lake Old Car Club. Joyce had a simple love of flowers, hummingbirds, her family and her God. Joyce is survived by her daughters Karen Zundel (Ed) and Peggy Barker (Jack) along with six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her youngest brother John Mckee (Della), of Soap Lake, Washington.
