Quincy Crime Stoppers to form
QUINCY — When local farmer Larry Schaapman saw haystacks aflame and had bales of wire stolen last summer, he decided to form a Crime Stoppers group in his hometown to help his neighbors catch criminals and prevent future crimes.
METAL THEFT
Metal theft in our county is occurring daily. Even if you are not a direct victim of these thefts, you still pay a cost through higher insurance rates. Grant County would become less attractive to criminals if more effort and some changes were made by our elected officials and law enforcement.
Kudos to Quincy Crime Stoppers
We applaud Quincy farmer Larry Schaapman and other community members for forming a Crime Stoppers group to help combat crime. Schaapman had his bales of wire stolen last summer and used his experience to help others with the formation of a local Crime Stoppers group. In a recent Columbia Basin Herald article, Schaapman stresses people who supply crime-solving tips to law enforcement can remain anonymous. The group is even exploring the idea of a reward system for tips.
