Patricia Joan (Jess) Goodwin
March 6, 1938 — Oct. 20, 2023
Patti was born March 6, 1938, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington. She was the first born to Melvie and Myrtle (Dugger) Jess. A year and one month later she was joined by her brother, Donald, in April of 1939. Five years later, in late 1943, her cousins John and Bobbee Jo Jess joined the family, after their mother passed away and they were adopted by Melvie and Myrt. Patti loved the growing-up years in the 1940s and ’50s. She always lived in the house one mile south of Hartline that she was brought home to. Later, she moved next door into her parents’ newer home following her mother’s death and her father’s move to the summer home. The exception was four and one-half years living in Naval housing at Tongue Point Oregon (Astoria), the Jesses’ summer home at Hansville, Washington and the Goodwins’ Hoaglen Valley Ranch in Trinity County, California and finally living about 18 months on the Kerr Ranch east of Arcata, Blue Lake and Korbel, California where husband Dave logged with his brother.
