Cesar Elijhia Hernandez
January 30, 1997 – April 16, 2025
Cesar Elijhia Hernandez, 28, passed away suddenly on April 16, 2025, in Adams County, Washington. Cesar was born on Jan. 30, 1997, to Eliza Guadalupe Beliz and Cesar Antonio Hernandez in Othello, Washington. The family relocated to Moses Lake shortly after, where Cesar would be raised and continue to live the rest of his life. Cesar was a lovable, energetic child. A joy to be around, he was attached to his loving aunts and uncles. When he was 8 years old, he was blessed with a sister, Alexandra Nava, followed shortly by a little brother, Antonio Nava. As a big brother, Cesar was loving and protective of his much younger siblings, as well as encouraging in all their endeavors.
Frank and Eloise Alvarez
A remembrance service will be held to celebrate the lives of longtime Moses Lake residents Francisco D. Alvarez Sr. and Eloise Vela Alvarez. Francisco, known to his friends as Frank, passed away on May 23, 2022 at the age of 96, in Seattle, Washington. Eloise passed away on Oct. 16, 2024 at the age of 92, also in Seattle, Washington. Frank and Eloise were both born in Harlingen, Texas. As young parents of six children, they arrived in Moses Lake in 1962 and were happy to call Moses Lake their home for over 60 years.
Dustin Wayne Stark
Dustin Wayne Stark was a beloved soul, born on July 9, 1978, in Ephrata, Washington. No parent wants to see their child's time up before their own. Unfortunately for Robert Stark and Loretta Stark, they didn't get the chance to see their son grow past the age of 46. Dustin was the youngest of siblings, Kimberly Stark and Robert Stark. He has two daughters, Kierstin Stark and Daytona Stark. He had many nieces and nephews who loved him, and he loved them too: Ryan Cross, Tyler Stark, Brett Darling, Alexis Stark, Masin Mcleod, Zander Cross, Zayden Cross and Penelope Cross.

Steady home sales market in Moses Lake
MOSES LAKE — The return of mortgage interest rates to more historic norms has resulted in a Moses Lake housing market that’s closer to historic norms. Longtime real estate professional Alan Heroux said there are about 210 to 215 houses on the market currently, compared to a historic average of about 250 to 350 at any given time. But a couple of years ago the number was less than 30 houses for sale at any given time, he said.

Former Moses Lake pianist receives Finnish knighthood
MOSES LAKE — A former Moses Lake man was recently honored with a knighthood in Finland. Collin Hansen, a 1975 graduate of Moses Lake High School, was awarded the Order of the Lion of Finland at a ceremony March 18.

MOSES LAKE — Two Moses Lake and two Warden residents are in federal custody in connection with multiple investigations by the Moses Lake Police Department and two federal agencies into drug trafficking and firearms violations.

Fourth suspect arrested in kidnapping, assault case
MOSES LAKE — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a fourth suspect involved in the alleged imprisonment and assault of a Moses Lake woman Wednesday. A driver who was fleeing from law enforcement in connection with the incident, and was killed in a crash, has been identified.
Mavs Hancock and Whitaker sign with Eastern Oregon
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Mavericks pitchers Kason Whitaker and Cooper Hancock both signed letters of intent to continue their baseball careers with Eastern Oregon Wednesday afternoon. “They’re an up-and-coming program,” said Cooper. “Their program got shut down a while ago, but then they got started back up in 2021 and every single year they kept on building.” Kason plans to pursue a degree in rangeland science, he said, where he would learn more about managing range and grazing lands for livestock and wildlife.

Wobbling into your life like a sweetheart
MOSES LAKE – Wabbles is a relatively new face at Grant County Animal Outrach, having arrived on April 18 and she’s just settling in. A domestic shorthair mix, she’s estimated to be about two years old and it’s unknown if she’s been housetrained as yet. Still, she’d love a chance to be your furrever friend and learn the ways of the couch potato or be queen of the cat tree. We’ll leave her tendencies up to her. Ephrata’s Downer recognized for excellence
EPHRATA — Hannah Downer, an 18-year-old senior at Ephrata High School, has been selected as one of the Students of the Month for March in recognition of her academic performance, leadership roles in extracurricular activities and positive influence on her peers. “I like being nominated for stuff and being recognized,” Downer said.
Incident in Moses Lake leaves one dead, two arrested
MOSES LAKE – One man died following a high-speed pursuit, while two women have been taken into custody on charges of robbery and unlawful imprisonment following an incident early Wednesday morning in Moses Lake, according to Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
