Robert (Bob) Lynn Bozeman, 81, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Bob was born on March 15, 1944, in Ontario, Oregon to Nathan and Nannie Maud Bozeman. His family moved to various places, eventually settling in Moses Lake, Washington where Bob graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1962. After high school he attended Big Bend Community College for two years, then transferred to Central Washington University in Ellensburg. It was during his time at CWU that he met his future wife, Jolyne Reiswig, when she happened to be visiting a mutual friend on campus. While at CWU, Bob enlisted in the United States Army and served our country for three years from 1966 to 1969 with one year of service in Vietnam.

Court cases moving forward in March 21 drive-by fatality shooting

EPHRATA – Two men, Mattew Valdez, 18, and Jose Beltran Rodriguez, 20, both of Moses Lake, were arrested in late April in association with a drive-by shooting in Moses Lake that led to one death and several injuries. Their legal process is moving forward and both have court dates set for September and October.

New Columbia Basin Railroad owners assume operation

MOSES LAKE — The owners of Jaguar Transport Holdings, Joplin, Missouri, officially took over operation of the Columbia Basin Railroad Thursday. The owners of Jaguar Transport announced they were buying CBRR in mid-July. “We take a disciplined approach to acquisitions, and this opportunity – backed by proven success, strong infrastructure, a dedicated team and a growing customer base – truly excites us,” said Jaguar Chief Executive Officer Stu Towner in a press release announcing the change. Jaguar did not respond to questions from the Columbia Basin Herald about the purchase. The sale was completed in mid-August.

Starch Madness remains in Boise through 2031

MOSES LAKE — In a statement by the Big Sky Conference, the Starch Madness tournament will remain in Boise through 2031. The conference and Idaho’s state capital agreed to terms that keeps the annual men’s and women’s basketball tournaments in Idaho Central Arena.

Special filing period for open elected positions in Adams County

RITZVILLE — A special filing period for elective offices in Adams County that haven’t attracted any candidates is scheduled for Aug. 20 through 22. City council, school board, fire district and parks and recreation district seats are among the offices that didn’t attract candidates.

Audit shows $32K misappropriated from East Adams hospital

RITZVILLE — A former employee at East Adams Rural Healthcare misappropriated about $32,000 in 2023, according to a report released Thursday by the Washington State Auditor’s Office. The report said the former accounting clerk pleaded guilty to four charges in April 2024 and served 60 days in jail.

But this time, the bull was inflatable and the rider’s age was a single digit. This year’s stick horse rodeo drew about 20 young cowboys and cowgirls.
