LETTER FROM THE EDITOR: Examine each thing independently

Over the last several years, our country has gotten into an all-or-none mentality that seems a bit odd to me. Maybe it’s because of my job, but it seems weird that we look at our political leaders and decide that they’re either always right or always wrong. I don’t mean this simply toward Donald Trump, though he’s in the mix, but rather toward the high-end political leaders that regularly make national headlines. They include Mitch McConnell, Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Dan Newhouse and a host of others.

ACH softball victorious against visiting Omak Pioneers

COULEE CITY — The Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors softball team took home two wins when they hosted the Omak Pioneers. In game one they were victorious 10-6. In game two they built on their momentum, winning 11-2 and moving to five wins on the season. The approach to the doubleheader was influenced by the Warriors' loss to Brewster, and Head Coach Faye Butler saw that her players became very motivated. “The next day in practice, the girls were like, ‘We need to practice harder, Coach.’ And I was like, ‘All right, let's practice harder.’ One thing I've been trying to hammer in these girls this year is resilience, so yeah, we got into it, and they were pumped,” she said.

Mavs fall to Jackson at home

MOSES LAKE – The Moses Lake Mavericks softball team came up short, 5-2, against the visiting Jackson Timberwolves. This comes after a dominant doubleheader win over the Eisenhower Cadets. “Jackson's a really good team with an established program, but we didn't play our sharpest and a lot of times in two good teams to get together, it's the team that makes one less mistake that comes out on top,” Mavs Head Coach Mike Hofheins said.
