On Saturday, a blaze started at Quincy Lakes, which started as a 50-acre fire but quickly spread because of 40 miles per hour winds, according to Grant County Fire District 3 Chief David Durfee. The fire scorched about 146 acres and contained as of Sunday night. The recreation area will remain closed as firefighters ensure the blaze doesn’t reignite and continue mopping hot spots.
