Event: The annual Columbia Basin Herald Christmas party. Date: Dec. 2. Place: Lake Bowl. Fun bowling and great food. Result: The 2016 CBH bowling champs, determined by the average of two games, left to right, Dana Moreno, Marlea Moreno, Cortney Moreno, Dennis Clay and Garnet Wilson. Down front is five-year-old Angel Ramirez. He was the star of the night. Although he became extremely tired as the evening progressed, he was up and willing to take his turn each time. He picked up a couple of spares and at least one strike, all without help. Garnet and I were about ready to walk out the door, at the end of the evening, when Cortney came running up to us. “We won a trophy,” she said. “What?” I said. “How did it happen?” After all, neither Garnet nor I have been bowling in 20 or more years. Apparently, our team had the highest average of the night. I still think it was Angel who pulled us to victory. “Ya know,” Garnet said. “We should come down here and bowl a line or two a week.”
