The sparkling new buildings you see at the Wanapum Dam site while traveling along Highway 243 make up an $11 million Grant County PUD construction project that was launched in October of 2010 and will be concluded in February of 2012. According to PUD spokeswoman Sarah Morford, The larger building, which dominates the scene, will have 48,500 square feet of space and will include a warehouse, sand blasting and painting facilities and a vehicle wash. The smaller building of 12,000 square feet will contain a waste management facility and a vehicle and boat repair shop. The footage numbers do not include covered car ports, mezzanines and storage areas.
