Schmunk, a member of the Moses Lake unit of the National Guard, died in battle outside Baghdad July 9, and was buried in Warden last Saturday.<br> (Ceremony Begins) Members of the United States Army Honor Guard carry the casket containing the mortal remains of Warden-born Army Spc. Nearly 1,500 people showed up at the Warden High School gymnasium to salute Schmunk, who had been born and raised in that city.<br> (Ceremony ends) Members of the United States Army Honor Guard carry the casket of National Guard Spc. Jeremiah Schmunk out of the Warden High School gymnasium, and on to the hearse that would take him to the Sunset Memorial cemetery. Schmunk, born and raised in Warden, was saluted one last time by his friends and neighbors, as well as by city, county and state authorities.
