Cynthia K. Engel-Strauss
Cynthia K. Engel-Strauss, lovingly known as Cindy, was born May 28, 1949, in McClusky, North Dakota, to Martha and Fred Engel. She passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 5, 2026, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.
Cindy was the youngest of six children and a loving mother to Christina and Marisa and proud grandmother to Angelica. Her family was her greatest blessing, and her love will live on through the generations.
In 1984, Cindy moved from Dallas, Texas, to Moses Lake, Washington, where she spent the rest of her life raising her family and creating lifelong memories. She worked at McDonald’s for 35 years and was loved by many coworkers and friends. Even during her cancer journey, Cindy continued to show incredible strength and determination. On Aug. 9, 2026, she returned to work for three weeks because she loved being around the people who meant so much to her.
Cindy enjoyed watching “Days of Our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless,” bowling and spending precious time with Angelica.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Fred Engel, and siblings Skip, Dallas, and Brenda.
She is survived by her daughters Christina and Marisa, granddaughter Angelica, sister Cheryl McCrorie, brother Rodney Engel and Maria, extended family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held in mid-spring 2027.
A Daughter’s Goodbye
Mom, I will miss your voice, your presence, and being your daughter. I am grateful I was able to walk beside you through your journey. You fought so hard, and I hope you know how deeply you were loved.
I love you, Mom. I always will.
Love always, Christina
