MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake's residents will have the chance to give their thoughts on its future through a survey currently underway as part of the city's comprehensive plan update.

"It basically is a plan for how the city will grow," said James Richmond, assistant city manager.

The comprehensive plan covers a wide range of city services, from water and sewer to streets to future growth, economic development, law enforcement and fire services, recreation and how city officials will provide those services and accommodate that growth. That's some but not all of the subjects addressed.

"Not to overuse it, but it really is a comprehensive plan," Richmond said.

State regulations require the comprehensive plan to be updated every 10 years, he said. City officials have hired a consultant to do some of the research, with the goal of providing a draft plan to Moses Lake City Council members by year's end.

The survey is accessible at https://app.maptionnaire.com/q/moseslake.

It asks people to detail what they think are the city's strengths and weaknesses, what services they want to see improved and where they think the city should focus its resources.
