MOSES LAKE — The Central Basin Community Concert Association’s second concert of the season will showcase two of the most iconic piano stars of the last 60 years.

“Piano Men: Generations” will feature the music of Elton John and Billy Joel, performed by father-and-son duo Terry and Nick Davies, who play back-to-back pianos in what their promotional materials call a high-octane, emotionally charged musical journey.

“The enthusiasm of a father and son loving music and playing together is a fascinating opportunity for the community,” CBCCA Vice President Judy Twigg said. “For those of us who love music, we’ll probably be clapping our hands and taping our toes.”

Terry Davies played his first gig at 16, according to the promotional materials, and toured with his wife Anne for 25 years. Nick, their son, grew up hearing, and soon playing and writing, music his whole life, turning pro at the age of 14.

Joining Terry and Nick is a five-piece band consisting of bass, synthesizers, guitars and drums, Twigg said.

Elton John and Billy Joel both rose to prominence in the 1970s, and between them have racked up more than 40 Top Ten hits, according to Billboard magazine. Although their careers have mostly been separate, the two have done joint tours on occasion in which they performed both their own and each other’s music.

Before and after the show, there will be cookies and coffee provided by Care Moses Lake, Twigg said. The snacks are available by donation, all of which is returned to the CBCCA to help pay for future shows.

Tickets for “Piano Men: Generations” are $30 for adults and $10 for students. There are also special rates for music teachers and students, and for families.

“A good word for them is ‘eclectic,’” Twigg said. “They’re not something you’re going to see in Moses Lake very often… These guys are showmen. When you’ve got that kind of a band behind you, you’ve got a dynamic evening of entertainment.”
