Moses Lake School District announces 2026-27 Schedule, restores elementary instruction time
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake School District has announced its school schedules for the 2026–27 academic year, highlighting a key step in its financial recovery with increased instructional time for elementary students.
Under the new schedule, elementary schools will add 30 minutes of instructional time to each school day. Beginning next school year, elementary students will attend from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Schedules for middle and high school students will remain unchanged.
District leaders said the added time reverses reductions made during the 2024–25 school year, when the district adjusted schedules as part of efforts to address financial challenges after losing levy funding.
Superintendent Carol Lewis said the change reflects steady progress in restoring services.
“Increasing elementary instruction time has always been an important goal of our recovery efforts,” Lewis said in a statement. “I’m very pleased that we are able to increase instructional time for our elementary students while maintaining our commitment to financial responsibility.”
The district credited the Educational Programs and Operations Levy, approved by voters in February 2025, with helping stabilize finances and support the return of student opportunities.
Officials described the updated schedule as another step in balancing classroom investments with responsible use of public resources. Families can expect additional back-to-school details, including transportation information and school-specific schedules, later this summer.
