Eagles’ Ewing and Knights’ Orth compete at state tennis

YAKIMA — The 1A and 1B State Tennis tournaments began Friday morning and Xavier Ewing from the Soap Lake Eagles and Cael Orth from the Royal Knights each began their bid as they looked to battle through the bracket.

Xavier Ewing 

Ewing started off the day at 8 a.m. against Aiden Gaines from Okanogan where he had a tough encounter. By the end of that match, the Eagle earned a 2-0 victory to move forward in the tournament.  

Later that day Ewing got back on the court to face St. George’s Eshan Reddy. There Ewing earned another 2-0 victory to send him into the championship match against Manson’s Ben Rasmusson. 

The championships were scheduled for Saturday afternoon and results were not available at the time of publication.  

Cael Orth

Orth began his state bid after 11 a.m. Friday against Austin Peas from Cascade Christian. The Knight put up a strong performance but ultimately fell 0-2 in his match and ended his state tournament run.
