Henry 'Hank' Severin, Sr.

| March 18, 2026 1:29 PM

Henry A. Severin, 81, was born March 29, 1944, in Wilbur, Wash., to the late Paul and Donnalee Severin.

He worked as a farmhand on a few farms in Grant County, growing up until he graduated from Ephrata High School.

He proudly served his country all over the world in the United States Navy as an engineman on many submarines and retired after 24 years of dedicated service as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (ENCS).

He was a man of quiet strength, steady service and deep devotion. He carried his work ethic from the U.S. Navy into his work of many years at Quincy Farm Chemicals and later delivering trees for local farms.

He was also a billiards team champion, known for both his skill and camaraderie, and for many years, brought joy to children as Santa Claus at the local club. He was a faithful friend who checked on shut-ins, delivered food to those in need, and made sure no one felt forgotten.

In the final nine years of his life, he lovingly cared for his wife Marilyn after her stroke, showing extraordinary patience, loyalty, and unwavering commitment.

His life was marked by duty, generosity, and a quiet kind of love that spoke through actions more than words.

He was known for his sarcasm and giving people a hard time. If you were given a hard time by Hank, that meant he liked you!

He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Donnalee, wife Cathy Severin and brothers Jerry, Bob and Don.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his sister, Sharon Flippen (Dennis); three children Deana Bennett (Joe) of North Carolina, Henry Jr. (Angelia) of Idaho, and Alexsys (Nick) of Illinois: six grandchildren: Carter, Khaila, Dwain (Mary), Eric (Carlie), Brett (Brigit) and Casey; eight great-grandchildren: Kyra, Wallace, Georgia, Lainey, Thayer, Henry, Sarai and Micaiah; and multiple nieces and nephews.

There will not be a formal service. The family will host a Celebration of Life at Hank's residence Saturday, April 11, 2026, at noon.

Hank Severin served his country for more than two decades in the U.S. Navy.
