MLSD to publicly review financial audit Thursday
MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake School District will have a special session before its regularly scheduled board meeting March 19 to publicly receive the results of the accountability audit conducted by the Washington State Auditor’s Office, who will present the findings.
The audit examined the district’s finances from 2022 to 2024. This includes the period leading up to the 2024-25 budget shortfall. The district reported around $11 million in accounting errors in 2024.
“We encourage community members to attend as the State Auditor’s Office presents their findings to the Board. It’s an opportunity to stay informed and better understand the audit results,” MLSD Director of Public Relations Ryan Shannon said.
The district, along with its board of directors, says they are committed to ensuring the community access to clear, accurate information.
“This is about being open with our community and taking responsibility for fully understanding what occurred,” said Superintendent Carol Lewis. “We owe our community clear information and accountability.”
