LETTER: Thank you for building community

I would like to thank you for the coverage of YMCA in the Columbia Basin Herald.

As a result of the article written by Joel Martin, “YMCA exploring possible branch in Moses Lake,” on June 20, 2025, I made a new friend. After seeing that article, I realized that Teresa Fields and I both wanted and were working toward the same thing for our community. I called and asked Joel Martin to give her my phone number and I heard from her shortly after. We met and shared ideas on a YMCA for our community.

Teresa took charge of the project and then Jan. 22, 2026, another article, again written
by Joel Martin, was published, “Moses Lake YMCA project takes step forward.”   

I appreciate the support in sharing about this project. It is our hope this generates more interest and support from the community.
