GEORGE — A George man was arrested Wednesday morning after he allegedly assaulted a woman during a domestic dispute then refused to come out of his house.

Ken J. Taylor, 39, was booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, obstructing law enforcement and fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, according to Grant County Jail records.

Kyle Foreman, public information officer for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, said in a release that the incident occurred in the 5500 block of North Frontage Road West about 6:30 a.m. The victim said Taylor had physically assaulted her.

When deputies arrived Taylor refused to come out of the house, Foreman said. After about 90 minutes deputies used “less than lethal” pepper balls, he said. Storm, one of the department K-9s, and his handler were on the scene.

Storm started barking, Foreman said in a separate interview, but hadn’t been sent inside.

“He barked at the door. Deputies were going to force the door open, but once the dog barked, (Taylor) opted to come out,” Foreman said.

He was arrested without further incident.
