COULEE CITY — A nearly 500-acre fire near Coulee City has rekindled this morning, according to Coulee City Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Jesse Bolyard.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office has announced there are Level 3 (Leave Now) evacuation orders in place for the Sun Lakes camping area. The sheriff’s office also announced that both SR 17 and US 2 are closed near the area.

The fire, dubbed the Gartred Road Fire, originally started Sunday at around 4 p.m., according to the National Interagency Fire Center.

“Please avoid the area and find alternative routes,” GCSO wrote in its announcement.
