OTHELLO — At around 4 p.m. Saturday, Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of South Paddle Road for a reported domestic violence assault in progress, according to a statement from ACSO.

The reporting party heard a female screaming in the residence. Deputies were able to safely remove the victim from the residence. However, the suspect remained inside and was not responsive to the commands.

Eventually, the suspect, Juan Lopez-Hernandez, 31, of Othello, exited the residence but still would not comply with commands, according to ACSO.

The suspect was taken into custody after a successful taser deployment, according to the statement. He was arrested on probable cause of fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation and residential burglary.

“Great work by the reporting party and responding deputies,” Sheriff Dale Wagner said in a statement. “Their quick work helped bring this incident to a safe resolution and ensure the victim’s safety.”
