JoAnn Hochstatter
JoAnn Cecile Hochstatter, 82, of Moses Lake, passed away on June 9, 2026, while fighting pancreatic cancer.
She was born to Cecil and Irene Marchand on Feb. 6, 1944, in Omak, Wash. She and her family moved to Odessa, Wash., where she, her mother, sister Janet, and brother James lived on grandfather Marcus Smith’s wheat farm while their dad served in the U.S. Marine Corps. The farm served as a source of security and help from their grandparents and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
In 1953, JoAnn’s family moved to Moses Lake, where her parents worked at the former Larson Air Force Base. JoAnn graduated from Moses Lake High School, class of 1963.
JoAnn married Cliff Hochstatter on Dec. 6, 1965, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She worked with Cliff at Hochstatter’s Electric for 35 years.
JoAnn enjoyed an exciting and full life with Cliff, enjoying motorcycling, traveling, skiing, boating, gardening and countless good times with friends and family. Her home and yard were a wonderful array of curiosities, including a silver spaceship and a Native American teepee, where she spent hours enjoying the view of Moses Lake.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Cliff; parents Cecil and Irene Marchand; sister Janet Turner; brother James Marchand; grandparents Alex and Ollie Marchand; grandparents Marcus and Anna Smith; and niece Terry Burress of Ellensburg.
Memories of all the good times serve as comfort for those whose lives she touched. She led a life well lived.
