| June 10, 2026 1:19 PM

Richard Allen Faulkner, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, at the Hospice House in Spokane Washington. He is preceded in death by his father Donald A. Faulkner, his brother Donald L. Faulkner and his mother Dorothy O. Faulkner.

Known as Dick to his friends and family, Richard graduated from Anacortes High School in 1955 before joining the Air Force as a radio repairman in 1956. He found joy in his travels, particularly in Alaska, which always held a special place in his heart.

After completing his military service in 1962, Richard graduated from Skagit Valley College before earning his accounting degree from the University of Washington. In Seattle he met Diane. The two married in 1965 after which Richard worked as an accountant for 33 years while raising four children.

Richard lived the lessons taught from his mother, whom he adored for every moment of the 100 years she lived. “Don't hold grudges and try to get along with people.” His beliefs made him a centering force for so many, projecting a gentle calm that brought comfort to those he met. Always ready to smile, his laugh was an eruption fueled by his joy for life. He was a lifelong Seattle sports fan, loving grandfather, and the kindest father anyone could hope to have.

He lives on in his sons Scott, Kevin and Ian; his daughter Erica; his son-in-law Rich; his daughter-in-law Pamela; his lifelong friend Diane; his nephew Bill; his grandchildren Canon, Jolie and Amelie; and countless others whose lives he touched throughout his 89 years.

A graveside service will be held at Grand View Cemetery in Anacortes at 10 a.m. on July 17. Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation.
